Already a dozen programs are written to read data from the Soladin 600 inverter. Years ago the protocol was unravelled and people have made data loggers on various platforms. I love the clear interface on Chozo.nl and the functionality of Solget but there are many more.
Too bad I couldn’t get any of them to work on my Debian based NanosG20.
I really needed to understand what was happening during serial port communication so I wrote this little script in Python with bits and pieces from Chozo and Veresano. This code is by no means complete but is a good starting point to learn how to read a serial port. Read the rest of this entry »
Finally, after gathering dust in our hallway for half a year, our Zentasol panels have been mounted on our rooftop. Thanks to Maarten for effectively solving our fears and some technical trouble, they’re up and running. 4.7 gJ of solar power a year, contained in 110 liters of water. Simple and effective.
